About Our Anti-Trafficking Work
Our goal is to fight human trafficking in the Puget Sound by engaging churches and community members in the areas of awareness, prevention, & restoration. Our team walks survivors and exploited women and girls through our GRACE plan:
G- Gospel
R- Resources from connections with local organizations
A- Activities (art, music, Bible studies, Mending the Soul, etc.)
C- Connecting with the Church and community
E- Education and employment: providing mentoring and job/life skills classes, educating the public to the reality of human trafficking and equipping them with tools to become advocates, and providing a safe place for girls and survivors to heal. Through our partnership with Solutions Dental, we also provide scholarships for survivors to participate in a dental assisting program.
The Story of Adorned Bridal
In early 2015, Christine Gilge’s husband asked if she would like to merge her women’s ministry with his dental office in Tacoma, WA, which he was remodeling. That evening she went online to ask if anyone would like to donate gowns toward the ministry. The Adorned In Grace team in Portland saw the post and offered to donate 300 dresses, which began the journey of Adorned Bridal.
For the past several years Christine and a passionate group of volunteers have spread awareness of human trafficking through the sales of bridal and formal gowns as well as through a multitude of community events, presentations, & teas to educate the public. In addition, the connection with the dental practice has been powerful: many of the patients have joined in the ministry in various ways, and trafficking survivors have received job skills training in dental assisting. In 2018, the team opened the current boutique location in Lakewood, WA to continue fueling the anti-trafficking work.
